Another small oil painting, 6x6. Using a limited palette on Alizeran Crimson, Cad red, Cad yellow, Ultramarine blue.
I am back in my studio, plugging away with the oil paints. This took too long, my goal is 4 hours from start to finish. I definitely need to practice brushstrokes and flowers need a light touch, but I am happy with the vase.
I am painting with my daughter, Claire. So we are working in acrylic paint. This medium is not familiar to me and I struggled with the texture of the paint and the fast drying times. You can see this in my strokes. I did like the brightness and clarity of the color!
I am planning on working small, 6x6, on simple objects to improve my color mixing and brushwork. These are both painted with a limited palette oh Alizarin Crimson, Cobalt blue and Cad yellow lemon or Cad yellow light.
