Submitted by patricia on Mon, 11/04/2013 - 12:19 Now that the weather is getting brisk, it is harder to complete a painting out of doors. I am working on a scene from the Matthei botanical gardens. I took several photos on the day, which was windy and the clouds were covering the sun every few minutes. This is partially done, but I am finishing it in the studio and so it is taking me longer to complete.

Submitted by patricia 6/25/2013 I was commissioned by the principal of St Patricks school to create a scripture mural on the back wall of the Boehm center stage. This was to be done in memory of the deceased son of a parrish family. We chose a scripture passage and I did a quick sketch. When this was approved, I created finished artwork to scale. The completed mural was four feet wide by six feet high and was finished in June of 2013. I was able to use acrylic paint, which I diluted with glazing fluid and applied with rollers. The lettering was also done by hand with a small brush.
Submitted by patricia on Sat, 01/28/2012 In 2010, our local school, Saint Patricks, finished construction on a new entryway. This provided the school with better access and security, along with a small vestibule area. The Principal, Ms. Bosnack, comissioned me to provide artwork for the vestibule wall, which is visible from outside of the building through the large windows. She wanted a verse and the only other requirement was to include a visual of the cross that stands outside of Saint Patrick church.
I decided to include a view of the cross as you would see it from the inside of the church through the arched windows. This was an inspiring view during Sunday worship. The watercolor was finished and hung in the early spring of 2011. A farewell from me to the school and church that had been our second home for the many years that we lived in Wadsworth, Illinois. In August, 2011 I relocated with my family to Ann Arbor, Michigan. |
